In the summer of 2015, JLMC, Inc. was honored to be contracted by the owners and designers of After Architecture, LLC to fabricate the art projects Kelp and Tide for the exterior of the Marriott Marquis in San Diego. This is the Kelp project.
The Kelp project came to life in our custom metal fabrication shop using 1/8″, 1/4″, and 5/8″ thick 6061-T6 aluminum with custom, hand-picked powder-coated colors. The pictures show conception (prototype) to installation. The completed project now resides for your viewing pleasure at the Marriott Marquis in San Diego. This is a new pedestrian connection for the Gaslamp District to Seaport Village. It is absolutely gorgeous in person, but we think the pictures also capture its beauty.
